Model cost pressure increasing

Model cost pressure usually rises quietly before it becomes a budget issue. Usage grows, prompts get longer, more features depend on AI, and suddenly the monthly spend no longer matches the original assumptions.

That pressure is often a signal to rethink architecture. Not every task needs the same model, and not every request needs the same amount of context or reasoning depth.

Teams that manage cost well usually combine routing, caching, model tiering, and tighter prompt design. The goal is not to make AI cheap at any cost, but to keep spend aligned with real value.
